SARDs Treatment Costs
This page describes the costs associated with IVIg treatment for SARDs/IMR.
Please do not be alarmed or discouraged by the costs associated with IVIg treatment as some SARDs/IMR patients can benefit from treatment of steroids and antibiotics.
Please read the documentation on our site and consult your veterinarian or veterinary ophthalmologist.
If you have gone through IVIg SARDs/IMR treatment, you know that it can be a costly experience. Additionally, VPI pet insurance covers very little for treating dog blindness.
If your costs for treatment have differed from Oscar’s SARDs Treatment Costs (below), or if you had some unique costs you had to pay for, please share them with us so that other readers may benefit from your experience.
The figures below are up-to-date costs associated with Oscar’s SARDs diagnosis, treatment, and post-treatment follow-up care since March of 2009 to current date.
Please consider that Oscar’s treatment was for an out-patient intra-ocular human Ig treament. For the IVIg treatment, which is an inpatient treatment, requiring four (4) days of hospitalization for your dog, please add approximately $2000.00 for additional treatment costs, and approximately $500.00 for additional accommodation (lodging / food) costs.
Also, please consider that our travel to Ames, IA., was from Orange County, Southern California. Of course, your travel costs may vary.
